The largest annual musical theatre event in America, the New York Musical Theatre Festival provides an unrivaled showcase for new musicals. Since its inception in 2004, the New York Musical Theatre Festival has proven a remarkably effective launching pad, with over 40 shows transferring to successful productions on Broadway, off-Broadway, regionally, on tour, and around the world. The following shows will be at the party:

MEET Antonia Addea, Jason Edward Cook, F. Michael Haynie and Steven Kane from ACADEMY - At St. Edward's Academy, two seniors make a harmless bet on whether they can influence an unsuspecting freshman to break a few rules to succeed. But when the transaction goes recklessly out of control, the boys become entangled in a fight for their own academic and personal survival. Inspired by Goethe's Faust, Academy is a pop chamber musical about boys learning to become men—and remaining true to themselves.

MEET Matthew Alvin Brown, Janine Davita and Nick Demos from RAINBOW AROUND THE SUN - Rainbow Around The Sun is the the fantastical odyssey of a man finding himself by losing himself. Flamboyant local rock hero Zachary Blasto struggles with personal demons as he relives both painful and joyous memories during a radio retrospective of his career. Based on the album and film of the same name, this Prog-rock concert with a story is a circus-like dissection of broken hearts, life through a liquor bottle, and rebirth through loss.

- In Encore, a troupe of Broadway dancers prepares to go on the road under the pressure of a fastidious and demanding choreographer. During their final rehearsal, the cast goes through the paces of one show-stopping number after another – set to classic jazz recordings – working through the uncertainty, headaches and hilarity of the intense process of making art, and raising the age-old question: will the show come together?

MEET Natalie Venetia Belcon, Felicia Finley, Marcus Neville, and Alex Wyse from THE LAST SMOKER IN AMERICA - With book and lyrics by Tony nominee Bill Russell (Side Show) and music by Drama Desk nominee Peter Melnick (Adrift in Macao), The Last Smoker in America is an original, four-character musical comedy about a dysfunctional family struggling to survive in a world where smoking has recently been outlawed. Pam, an English lit professor at a small college, is having an impossible time trying to quit smoking. Her husband Ernie dreams of being a rock star and relentlessly practices his electric guitar in the basement. Their teenage son Jimmy listens to so much rap music he's convinced he's black. Their nosy, anti-smoking zealot neighbor Phyllis lurks around trying to catch transgressors mid-puff. Will Pam kick the habit or fight for the right to light up as The Last Smoker in America?

MEET Cast Members from MOISTY THE SNOWMAN SAVES CHRISTMAS - This kiddy show for adults is the naughty little fairy tale of how one filthy and flamboyant New York snowman saves Christmas. Join Moisty and all his friends; a homeboy elf, a lesbian rag-doll, and the Baby Jesus, as they struggle to save Christmas from the witchy and glamorous Mayor Bloomburger-Meisterburger.

MEET Nathan Balser, Kathy Deitch, Patrick Livingston, and Katie Thompson from R.R.R.E.D: A SECRET MUSICAL - Extinction! IN THE YEAR 2005, the Oxford Hair Foundation predicted that due to globalization and population intermixing, by the year 2100, the recessive gene which causes red hair would be... EXTINCT. IN THE YEAR 2009, we redheads have taken matters into our own hands. A world without redheads is no kind of world we are going to let happen. If heads have to roll, well, they sure as hell won't be red... heads.

MEET Chad Carstarphen, Virginia Cavaliere, Kevin Curtis, Carla Duren, and Ryan J. Davis from STREET LIGHTS - Street Lights depicts the struggle, hope, ambition, anger, injustice, love, and the promise of a new generation as inner-city teenagers coming together to take back their community center from the drug dealers who now control the neighborhood. In the process, they bring hope to their community and learn how powerful they are when they stand together. The groundbreaking score of Street Lights is unlike any musical theater score you've heard...it takes the most current pop music styles and shapes them into modern musical drama, creating a whole new sound for the musical stage. The score uses modern hip hop and pop production techniques to mix samples from recordings made during the civil rights movement.

The seemingly peaceful country of El Mirador in truth struggles under the bloody heel of a ruthless dictator Tacho; who conceals the unrest with a smoke screen of prosperity and stability. Russell Price, a young American photojournalist, is swept up in the passionate culture of a world in turmoil and is confronted with a decision that will stir his passion, challenge his personal beliefs and professional ideals as he searches for the “One Picture” that will define his career and the future of a country.
